TEXAS IN THE SPRING
April 23 - May 4, 2012 12 DAYS
DAY 1 .....6:00 a.m. depart Everett. 7:00 a.m. depart the Cumberland Holiday Inn.
The deep south has much to offer. It has a charm and beauty all its own. Our travel
today takes us through Maryland, West Virginia and Tennessee.
DAY 2 .....Leaving Sweetwater, we travel thru Chattanooga on our way to New Orleans. The evening will be free to enjoy the area and dinner on your own.
DAY 3 .....Have your breakfast and be ready for a guided city tour at 8:30 a.m. Our guide will walk us through the French Quarter and Jackson Square. After the tour, we visit the National D-Day Museum. Following lunch, we will cruise the Mighty Mississippi on the Natchez Steamer. In the evening we have dinner at Ralph & Kacoos and then time to stroll along Bourbon Street.
DAY 4 .....Breakfast at the hotel at 7 a.m., followed by check-out and departure. We will be traveling through bayou country on our way to Houston. Upon arrival, we will visit the San Jacinto Monument and then drive by the Astrodome.
DAY 5 .....The destination today is San Antonio. While here, you will enjoy the Alamo, the River Walk and boat ride.
DAY 6 .....Depart the hotel and go to the Buckhorn Hall of Horns. Leaving here, we travel along the Mission Trail to view some of the old missions and make a stop at Mission San Jose. Leaving here, we come back to town for some time to browse and visit the shops. In the evening, enjoy the Tower of the Americas and dinner.
DAY 7 .....Regretfully, we say goodbye to San Antonio as we drive north to Dallas. Our first stop will be in Austin, at the state capitol for a tour. Next we visit the LBJ Library on the grounds of the university. In Dallas, we will do some city touring and visit the State Fair Complex.
DAY 8 .....The famous “Southfork Ranch” is first on our list of sightseeing today. From here, we will drive by the Texas Stadium and to the Stockyards in Ft. Worth. The evening can be spent visiting the Reunion Tower for a night-time view of Dallas.
DAY 9 .....Today we leave the big state of Texas. We will arrive in Texarkansas for lunch and some brief sightseeing. Our next stop will be Hot Springs National Park and a visit to Bath House Row. From here, we travel to Little Rock and see a view of the state capitol building.
DAY 10 .....Leaving Arkansas behind we travel to Memphis, TN - home of the ‘Blues’. Upon arrival, we will tour Graceland, the home of Elvis Presley. After lunch and some sightseeing, we will leave for Nashville. After dinner, you will have the opportunity to go to Opry Mills Outlets or visit the Opryland Hotel.
DAY 11 .....This morning finds you on your way to the bluegrass country of Kentucky. Arriving in Lexington, we will visit the Kentucky Horse Park.
DAY 12 .....Sit back and relax as we travel home. Meal and rest stops enroute.
